The Framing System list in v14 was based on a design that I believe carried over from the very first GDS version. In v14, we actually increased the number of framing systems from 100 to 200. The whole problem with this design was that there was a limit, and the only order to the list was by system number.

The new software has no limit to the number of framing systems, and the list can be sorted a number of different ways. The other problem with the old method is that system #42 may be a completely different system for one shop's catalog than another. In terms of technical support, the new system will ensure that system #42 is the same system, no matter who is using the same version of a catalog. Of course a user can go in and rework any system in a list, but for the most part, you would want to leave default systems mostly intact, and add new systems that need to be completely different.

The numbers assigned in the new v15 system are automatic numbers that are generated each time a new record is added to the table in the vendor database. These numbers will never change, and if a certain system is deleted, the number will never be used again. This in itself has its own advantages.

If you would like to mimic the way that the v14 program used Frame numbers to organize your systems, you can use the Description sort and have numbers at the beginning of the description.
